Learn to Play Ice Hockey
in Dunedin
Anyone can learn to play hockey! Come join us on ice to learn the best sport in the world. The Dunedin Ice Hockey Association have an excellent Ice Hockey New Zealand approved learn to play program.
Everyone has the opportunity to learn basic hockey skills and game play, with the emphasis on fun and best of all, no prior experience is necessary!
If you’re keen to give it a go, but aren’t sure if ice hockey is for you, the Dunedin Ice Hockey Association offer a free trial in our youth Learn to Play program. As part of your free trial, we will supply all ice hockey gear required for your child. Simply register with us for a session, and we’ll take care of the rest!

Youth Learn to Play
The DIHA Learn to Play program focuses on teaching the basics of ice hockey to children 4-15, with a huge emphasis on fun for all!
Players learn essential ice hockey skills like skating, stopping, stick handling, and shooting, all within games and drills that keep them engaged and wanting more.
Supported by some of our top representative level ice hockey players, our training sessions are high quality. Players work through a check list of key skills before graduating into our youth program.
Our Learn to Play program caters for players aged from 4 to 15 and no previous ice hockey or skating experience is required, plus we have all the necessary gear available to hire.
Adult Learn to Play
Adult learn to play classes are run regularly throughout the year by Ice Hockey Otago. Find out more here
