2023 Training sessions for each term are below:

• Term 1 - Every Thursday until 6th April
• Term 2 - Starts Tuesday 25th April and thereafter every Tuesday and Thursday until 29th June
• Term 3 - Starts Tuesday 18th July and thereafter every Tuesday and Thursday until 21st September

The Southern Ice Hockey League (SIHL)schedule is not out yet, but throughout Term 2 and 3 there will be games to play against Gore, Alexandra, Queenstown and Tekapo at home and away.

The fees for this season set out in registration are for the NZIHF membership $45, Dunedin Ice Hockey membership $35 and the term fees covering all the training ice time and coaches.

The membership fees need to be paid in full at the time of registration, but you will see that the ice time and coaches cost can be split over the whole season.

If you intend to play in the various SIHL tournaments during term 2 & 3, there is an additional cost for each team to contribute towards to the ice time and officials.

Once we receive the SIHL tournament schedule, the U12 coordinator will ask for interested players and will work with the coaches to form teams.

The SIHL tournaments are 3 v 3 cross ice games. This reduces the game area so they have more time with the puck and the the game is run on 1 minute whistles.

Each team will start with 3 players on the ice and their goalie. The referee will start the game with a centre spot face off/puck drop, after one minute they will blow the whistle, this means stop playing the puck immediately and all the team players need to get off the ice. Once all three team players are off, the next three can go on. This format will continue for 10 mins.

If the teams do not have a bespoke goalie, the club has quick change goalie equipment. This is designed to go over the top of a players equipment. Each player will take a turn as the goalie.

A SIHL tournament usually starts at 9am and continues to around 1pm. Games will be played continuous throughout this time, with teams getting games off shown in the schedule.

Each team at a SIHL tournament will play around 10 games, so as you can imagine plenty of fun had by all and sound asleep real quick on the journey back home.
